As with The Hunger Games, I'm a little bit late to the party. I also saw the film for "Catching Fire" before I read this book.
I enjoyed this book more than I did the first one in the series, and significantly more than I did the film. There is so much backstory before Peeta and Katniss return to the arena for the Quarter Quelling ... where the Capitol government is basically taking revenge on them for becoming national heroes.
I learned a lot more about all of the characters in this second book, and found myself relating more to them as a result.
Again, the overarching theme of the tale is teamwork and relationships, which is an excellent message. As with the previous book, though, I would caution parents to consider whether their younger teens are ready for the level of violence.
