I was a little disappointed in this book, in no small part because it was not what I expected it to be. Instead of a memoir about the author's reading experiences (which is what I thought I was getting), this book is an extended essay about reading as a solitary pursuit.
To be sure, the author mentions some books she has read ... and others she didn't read ... and films she didn't see.
It was also a little bit on the arid side, with little humor or personality injected. It was, however, a well-constructed essay ... which is why it got three stars from me.
