How To Be a Victorian - Ruth Goodman

For such a weighty tome, Ruth Goodman's How To Be a Victorian is quite entertaining. Goodman takes her research and personal experience (from working on BBC productions such as "Victorian House") and brings the information to light for the everyday reader.

The book covers subjects ranging from leisure activities, fashion, education and even contraception through the Victorian era. Her touch is light, but the information is outstanding. An extensive bibliography lends credence to the statements Goodman makes on all subjects.

Highly recommended for history buffs, historical fiction authors, historical reenactors, and those interested in learning more about other cultures.
