When Paul and Carol Gabriel's son, Jamie is abducted, the Indianapolis police don't seem too interested. They figure he's a runaway and that he'll show up eventually.
Fourteen months later, the Gabriels hire private detective Frank Behr, a former police officer with a burden of his own. Almost reluctantly, he takes the case and soon finds himself embroiled in a nightmarish situation involving several missing kids from the general vicinity.
I had never heard of this author or series; we have a book swap shelf at work and that's where I found it. While this first novel in the series started a little slowly, it soon had me gripped in a late-night "just one more chapter" reading pattern. If you like crime thrillers, this one is likely to be right up your alley, with flawed protagonists that you can care about, and a solid dose of action. Well done.
