This is the third in the "Anne of Green Gables" books. I never read them as a child, but am enjoying them as an adult. In this book, Anne and most of her friends go off to college. Her best friend, Diana, stays home to get married. Her friend Ruby stays home as well, due to an illness that worsens across the book.Anne makes a new friend, Philippa, who is quite well-to-do and very flighty. Honestly, I wanted to slap her sometimes. Anne, Philippa and two other girls rent a house together rather than boarding and go about their studies and collegiate social lives (which are quite busy).Honestly, this book did not charm me quite as much as the previous two, although it was still entertaining. It felt a little rushed, like the author was trying awfully had to get Anne all grown-up and to the next phase of her life. I look forward to seeing what book 4 brings.
