Rocket 88: Classic Singles

Rocket 88: Classic Singles - Mal Peachey I used to work in the music business (ref. You Had to Be There: Three Years of Mayhem and Bad Decisions in the Portland Music Scene), and I obsessively followed music trends and charts. That's what this book is all about.Starting with 1948's "Lovesick Blues" and carrying on through the end of the 20th century, the authors have a brief breakdown on the annual record of the year, other important singles, and general trends in music. This is a quick read at 119 pages, and quite entertaining from my perspective. My only complaint is that I would have liked more than one or two pages per year, as the trends were not examined deeply.
