84, Charing Cross Road ; and, the Duchess of Bloomsbury Street

84, Charing Cross Road - Helene Hanff Another quick read in a single evening, "84, Charing Cross Road" consists of the correspondence between acerbic screen writer and bibliophile Helen Hanff and the staff (and family, eventually) of an antiquarian book store in London.Hanff and her primary correspondent, Frank Doel, exchange letters that begin as book orders and receipts and eventually include gifts, personal discussions and more. The tone is consistently good-humored and the book discussions quite entertaining. The book was adapted into an equally charming film.Highly recommended.
