I unearthed this book and its companion volume, More Random Acts of Kindness, in a box from our storage unit. I sat down to (re)read both volumes last night and found inspirational stories of kindness and quotes to match.I remember when this book was first published, in the mid-1990s, that there was a spate of people doing surprise kindnesses for one another. I would occasionally go through a toll booth to find that the person in the car ahead of me had paid my fare -- and I would pass along the favor. Somehow, in these difficult times (I would argue that this is when we need it the most), the idea of helping one another has gone out of favor. It's time for more folks to capture that spirit and reach out a hand. Highly recommended.
