Treat Us Like Dogs and We Will Become Wolves - Carolyn Chute

It takes a lot for me to abandon a book; as a result, it happens very seldom.

However, after 150 pages of this nonsensical tale, I couldn't take it any more. Ivy Morelli is a reporter with the local newspaper, and she wants to do an exposé on The Settlement, the homeschooling cult just outside of town. Okay, the premise is interesting.

It falls apart pretty quickly. The author uses at least eight first-person narrators (including space aliens), looks at the story in both present and future tense, and creates a bunch of characters who are all cardboard cut-outs (the charismatic leader, the submissive women, the weird reporter).

I just couldn't be bothered any further.
