Me Talk Pretty One Day - David Sedaris

This is, hands down, one of the most entertaining memoirs I've ever read. Author David Sedaris sets the stage for the challenges he faces in learning to speak French by introducing us to his early experiences with a speech therapist.

We then learn about his family, with his jazz-loving dad, long-suffering mother, and artistic sisters ... and how the whole jumbled, dysfunctional mess works. And, of course, we learn about his move to France and his desperate attempts to learn the language by teaching himself one word at a time.

Sedaris has a way of bringing us right into the room with self-deprecating humor, amusing anecdotes, and an authorial style that feels like having your best friend sitting right next to you at a cocktail party.

Not to be missed!
