David Michie's expertise on Buddhism shines through this delightful novel -- without being the least bit preachy. Written from the perspective of HHC (His Holiness' Cat), She of Many Names -- it seems that everyone in town calls her something different -- this is a delightful look at life inside Dharamsala, as well as Buddhist philosophy in general.HHC meets many new friends along the way, from the haughty restaurateur and his little dog to the queen of Bhutan. Each meeting is an opportunity to learn something new about patience, mindfulness, etc. The book is intelligent and well-written, and HHC's story is very sweet. I would recommend this book highly to animal lovers and to anyone interested in learning a little bit more about Buddhist precepts.
