Siddhartha - I first read this book in high school, and am very glad that I decided to do so again.Hesse's protagonist, Siddhartha, is a wealthy young man in India's Brahmin caste. Throughout the course of the book, he gives up everything to become an ascetic, then becomes a gambler, a lover and even a ferryman in his quest to understand the world. It is in his last position that he comes to understand the interconnectedness of all people and experiences. There is much wisdom to be found in the pages of this short novel.
