The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall

The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall - Mary Downing Hahn "The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall" is a ghost story appropriate for the 9-12 crowd. The story concerns 12-year-old Florence, an orphan, coming to live at her uncle's home in rural England during the Edwardian era. The house is haunted by the ghost of her late cousin Sophia, a vengeful spirit. The book is not particularly scary. It was position to reviewers as a young adult novel, but I suspect most YA fans would find it a trifle young for their tastes. Not a bad story overall, but definitely not YA material. As always, parents should examine the book themselves before presenting it to their child.(Review based on uncorrected advance copy.)
